There are 10,500 athletes from all over the country here, competing in 19 different sports over a ten day period! Today we had a chance to watch basketball and shuffleboard competitions, and table tennis and badminton practices. Tonight was the Parade of Athletes in the Legacy Arena, which is part of this convention complex. Very cool! We think the largest contingent of athletes, besides Alabama, the "home team", was Maryland. Idaho was pretty non-impressive! One of the special guests was 83 year old Par Boone - he was playing basketball earlier in the day
This afternoon, in between things, we walked around the block to the Birmingham Art Museum. We saw that last time we were here and we remembered how awesome it was! It did not disappoint. It features one of the largest collections of Edgewood china anywhere. (We were here in Jan 2016 for a "venue tour" with NSGA)
Dinner tonight at the Southern Kitchen, just down the block in a redevelopment area they call "Up Town".
Off to Atlanta tomorrow!
