Day 48 - Devil's Tower, Buffalo, WY

Lots of miles today as we plan on three long days to get home on Sunday. We drove south along the width of eastern Montana. Mostly cattle ranching and hay bales. We stopped first in Beach, ND to visit Prairie Fire Pottery. Beautiful stuff, we bought a souvenir bowl. Then we stopped in this little burg called Ekalaka for lunch and found a rope candle stick. We also came across a little state park called "Medicine Rocks".

Today's route took us right by the Devil's Tower National Monument. The last time we were there, we think 2001, the facilities were torn up with construction, so we wanted to visit again. we had driven 200 hundred miles acorss the desolate part of easter Montana, hardly seeing anyone, then found crowds at the Tower! Even though it was 96 degrees, we hiked the 1.3 mile loop around the base of the tower. We saw deer and climbers!

We finally arrived in Buffalo, WY, about 8:00PM after 380 miles.

Thoughts, Observations and Conclusions

Fifty days, 11,175 miles! WOW! And it all went according to plan - on time and on budget! My favorite places: Medora, ND Bar Harbo...
