By the time we had finished lunch and catching up on old times, it was obvious the sky would open soon. But, so what, let's risk it. Linda took us to this place called "Kashi" which is this rather odd "Interfaith Peace Walk" "honoring all religious traditions in form or spirit.Of course, the skies did open, along with some spectacular lightning and thunder, buts its all good! Man, did it rain! That's why we carry ponchos.
Our evening adventure was quite bizarre. Linda is a long-time member of the Sea Turtle Preservation Society. So we participated in a "Turtle Walk", an educational event which they do several times a week. There are about 15 volunteers (including Linda and Chloe) and there were 15 "tourists" lie us. We met at 9:00PM just as the sun was setting. We enjoyed an hour lecture - everything you could want to know about the five species of Sea Turtles. While we were getting the lecture, the staff volunteers went out on the beach looking for Loggerheads who would be coming out of the water, crawling up the beach to the dune line, digging their nest and laying eggs. The idea is that when they found a turtle (some they don't, sometimes there are lots) we'd be called to come down and actually watch the egg laying by red light. We finally got the call at 11:30. We were tired but off we went and sure enough, there she was! Couldn't take any pictures for fear of bothering the turtle so you'll just have to take our word for it!
